We supported the Weaving Bonds alumni to lead initiatives in their communities with our small grants program. Through this program, youth can apply for grants from Weaving Bonds to conduct their own activities in their hometowns. They can also apply to be interns at our program to learn further about peacebuilding, leadership skills, and gender.

Weaving Bonds has been working on regional alumni small grants and we have funded two small projects from our regional alumni. The small grant from WBAB was given out to one of the alumni from Nepal and another one from Indonesia in 2017-2018 to organize workshops on gender issues in their communities to improve women’s awareness on gender equality. In this activity, two alumni proposed and implemented their own community activities in which they both were able to apply the gender knowledge that they learned from the 2017 regional workshop. After this activity, two alumni reported that they had gained direct working experiences with communities and the trust from their communities. According to the activities they organized, they also got to improve their leadership skills and also got to learn on how to play the roles of project manager among the community members.
